The Signs
Hi internet addicts, i'm Daniel for those of you that don't know me, today upon Mrs B request today i'm here to talk signs, no religious signs, just symbols, and different signs.
in Media Studies signs are "significations is to do with way things act as signs", in another words signs are how you see and act with them. Signs are composed of 2 parts = The Signifier and the Signified, the signifier is what we can see, and the signified is the meaning that we take from it.
Some visual signs are in the same way that we understand the words, in examples, ARROWS, we all know that they are for signify any "Direction".
There are so many types of signs, so lets start with : THE ICON SIGN, this is a sign which resembles a "Don't turn to left" sign.

I think that this represents the same thing to everyone, am i wrong ?
The next type of signs is THE ARBITRARY OR CONVENTIONAL SIGN , i don't actually care of how you want to say so, this type of sign only signifies something because we all agree that it does, do you agree with me ? write in the comments, eg = Gato, Cat, kot, kocka, all mean the same thing = a four legs animal that loose all over your house and half past night,

Our third sign is the SYMBOLIC SIGN, OR JUST SYMBOL, this sign is a sign which is a mixture of iconic and conventional. we call it symbolic because it signifies much more than its iconic, eg
This is symbolic to USA, this is symbolic because shows a big importance in so many people lifes in USA.
Well this is the last sign the INDEXICAL SIGN, this is a sign that has a close link with what it signifies, but the link is not one of resemblance because what an indexical sign signifies is usually invisible an example is the id, you have but you can't catch it.
